Alexis Batastini Cheerleading ScholarshipThe Alexis Batastini Cheerleading Scholarship was created to honor Alexis’ life and her love for Cheerleading. Alexis was involved with cheerleading at Hahira Middle School in Hahira, Georgia and fell ill shortly after she made the cheerleading squad at South Lake High School in Groveland, FL. Her love for cheerleading along with her outgoing personality obviously touched her fellow cheerleaders and her coach, Amber Grabowski. Alexis passed away on December 10th, 2004 and at that time the coach and cheerleaders decided to start the scholarship in memory of Alexis. The scholarship is a $500 monetary award for the most outstanding South Lake High School senior cheerleader that demonstrates the leadership and love for the sport. The scholarship is to help this student with the burden of college. It can be used toward any college of their choosing. We are honored that South Lake High School chose to honor Alexis in this way and we are proud to be affiliated with a scholarship that embodies Alexis’ personality and spirit. On Alexis’ headstone, there is an inscription that says it all: “Cheering From The Heavens”. Alexis would be proud that she had something to do with helping a fellow cheerleader achieve a great education. If you would like to donate to this wonderful Scholarship in Alexis’ name and honor, you may do so. Please make all personal checks, money orders, or cashier’s check payable to South Lake High School. Any donations received after May 1st will be applied to the following year's scholarship.
